Hosted by Dr. Melanie M. Wong and University Colleagues
Registration: If you’re interested in joining the Community of Learners, please contact Dr. Melanie M. Wong (melanie.wong@ubc.ca).
This is an invitation for Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) educators across Canada to join a monthly Zoom conversation starting September 2022 to June 2023. The focus of this Literacy and Language Professional Community of Learners is to share research and best practices. We ask that our K-12 colleagues try to commit to the majority of the conversations. A number of topics will be discussed with university experts leading the monthly conversations (see below for the initial list of topics). Sessions will follow a similar format where there will be a brief lightning talk by a university expert(s) followed by breakout sessions (which will include discussion around the topic, discussion on how the research shared can be applied to practice, and hands on activities). The goal of this community of learners is to build our collective understandings of best practices on a range of topics with regards to literacy and language education.
