Dr. Ryuko Kubota recently published her essay entitled "Racial biases in academic knowledge" in OUPblog: Oxford University Press’s Academic Insights for the Thinking World.

The 2019 Summer Institute will take place from August 19-29 and September 4-6 on the UBC Vancouver campus.

We're delighted to announce that LLED's PhD student, Margaret McKeon, has been awarded the 2019-20 James M. Flaherty Research Scholarship Award from the Ireland Canada University Foundation.

Amanda Wager, LLED PhD graduate, has been recently appointed as a new Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Community Research in Art, Culture & Education at Vancouver Island University.

LLED is pleased to host 22 secondary-school English-language teachers from Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education for a ten-week professional development program.

Ashley R. Moore will be defending his PhD dissertation proposal at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 25th, in Room 1306A of Ponderosa Commons: Oak House (PCOH).

Please join us for this public talk with Dr. Yumi Sugihara Yoshida, visiting associate professor at UBC’s Institute of Asian Research and an associate professor in the Faculty of Policy Management, Keio University, Japan.

Dr. Kowkabi is a recent graduate of LLED. She will take up her new position on July 1.
