Screening of “Sgaawaay K’uuna – Edge of the Knife”

Screening of “Sgaawaay K’uuna – Edge of the Knife”

Presented by the Department of Language & Literacy and the Office of Indigenous Education:

2019 is The International Year of Indigenous Languages. In celebration of this, please join us for the screening of this Award winning Indigenous Film. Filmed on stunning Haida Gwaii, co-directed by Gwaii Edenshaw and Helen Haig-Brown, it is the first feature film to be spoken only in dialects of the endangered Haida Language. The film duration is 100 minutes, and will followed by a discussion session. Light refreshments will be served.

Limited showings are available, please RSVP to indigenous.education@ubc.ca to view this landmark work of cinema. See attached poster for more information.
