French media outlet TFO recently published an article featuring a research brief in which Dr. Wendy Carr and Dr. Meike Wernicke each wrote an article about linguistic insecurity.
Linguistic insecurity is a phenomenon that affects a great many French second language learners who worry that their French is not “good enough” and can become discouraged about speaking French. It is important to normalize the fact that language learning takes a lifetime to master and that we are all (students and teachers) developing language proficiency as an ongoing process.
