Public Seminar by Dr. Ryan Deschambault

Situated Educational Leadership: Learning, Teaching, and Innovating in the UBC-Ritsumeikan Academic Exchange Programs

Date: Tuesday, February 6
Time: 10:30AM – 12:30PM
Location: Ponderosa Commons Multipurpose Room

Presented by Dr. Ryan Deschambault:

In this talk I will present an overview of my current role and contributions as a Lecturer in the UBC-Ritsumeikan Academic Exchange Programs. As a means for situating my teaching and educational leadership activities within this unique learning environment, I will describe personal and program-based practices and approaches, examples of their influence on classroom instruction and curriculum development, and their relationship to some of the challenges that arise in this cohort-based program. Looking forward, I will outline specific pedagogical adaptations, research initiatives, and departmental collaborations that I believe highlight the strengths of the program and possibilities for its future.
