LLED Apprenticeship Workshop: Navigating the publication process

Speaker: Dr. Ron Darvin
Date and Time: Friday, November 24th from 1:00 to 2:30 PM
Location: Ponderosa Commons North, Multipurpose Room (PCN 2012)
RSVP and submit questions: https://forms.gle/Lzw5ggjhCaXNEXYw9 (by Friday, Nov 17th at noon)

Abstract:
In this workshop, Ron Darvin discusses how to navigate the labyrinthine process of academic publishing: from choosing a suitable journal to co-authoring and engaging with the peer-review process. To demystify this often opaque journey, participants are invited to send their questions beforehand so that Ron can address specific topics or issues they’re interested in.  The workshop will also provide practical tips to help graduate students negotiate different publication norms and expectations, and situate their work for wider dissemination and impact.

About Dr. Ron Darvin:
Dr. Ron Darvin has published in journals such as Annual Review of Applied Linguistics, Language Teaching, and Language Learning & Technology, and contributed to edited volumes such as The Routledge Handbook of Language and Identity. He has co-edited various special issues, the most recent being a 2022 special issue of TESOL Quarterly on digital literacies. He is currently an Associate Editor for the Literacy volume of the Wiley Encyclopedia of Applied Linguistics, and is an editorial board member of Language Awareness and International Journal of Applied Linguistics.
