Grading

LLED offers some courses that are graded and some (e.g., those in the Bachelor of Education program) that are pass/fail.

Courses that are graded at UBC use a percentage scale (0–100%) alongside equivalent letter grades. The undergraduate pass mark is generally 50%, while graduate minimum passing grades are higher (60% for master’s and 68% for doctoral students). For more information on expectations in graduate coursework, see Academic Progress and Grading Practices.

Detailed information regarding grading practices and assessment criteria for individual courses will be provided in the official course syllabus, which serves as your primary guide for academic expectations. It is essential to review the syllabus early in the term to understand how your work will be evaluated and how final grades are calculated.
