Please join us in warmly congratulating Dr. Margaret Early and Dr. Tim Anderson who are winners of 2015-2016 Killam Prizes:
Dr. Margaret Early
Killam Faculty Teaching Prize
Dr. Tim Anderson
Killam Graduate Teaching Assistant Award
In her nomination letter for Margaret, Dr. Bonny Norton wrote that “Dr. Margaret Early has all the qualities of a Killam Teaching Prize winner, and more. She is a creative, committed, and talented teacher/advisor, whose generosity of spirit is legendary. However, her influence as an educator extends far beyond UBC, where she has worked tirelessly in diverse contexts to enhance language and literacy education in Canada and the international community. It is timely to acknowledge Dr. Early’s outstanding teaching contributions with a Killam Teaching Prize.”
In her nomination letter for Tim, Dr. Patsy Duff wrote this: “[Tim Anderson] is a tremendously gifted teacher who has exemplified the university-level Killam criteria … as well as the Faculty of Education’s commitment to modeling the highest standards of teaching, integrity, relationship-building, collegiality, professionalism, and creative, engaging knowledge construction and mobilization. That he has managed to do so consistently across as many courses and programs–and while also excelling in his academic work (not to mention his family/community life)–is very significant and laudatory and certainly deserves Faculty-wide recognition.”
Bravo to you both, and thanks for making LLED a better Department!
