Biography


Alex Ross is a SSHRC-funded PhD student in TESL. Prior to coming to UBC, Alex completed her MA in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies at Carleton University. Since 2019, she has served as the Managing Editor of the Canadian Journal of Applied Linguistics, and she is currently a member of UBC’s AAAL 2024 Conference Planning Team. Alex also has extensive experience teaching English as an additional language and has previously worked in South Korea, Mexico and Central Canada. Broadly speaking, her research interests include second language teaching and assessment for adult learners, interactional competence and discourse analysis.
