Biography

Yushi Hinoki completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Kyoto, Japan, and started his PhD in TESL at UBC in 2025. His research focuses on how Japanese university students develop their perceived self-efficacy for intercultural communication in English through participating in a study-abroad program, and how such development is associated with various factors and outcomes both within and outside their study-abroad contexts. He is also interested in theories and practices of research methodologies, especially quantitative and mixed methods research designs.
