Playfulness in K-12: Connecting Research to Practice
Wednesday November 15, 2023
4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (PST)

This event is the first in a series dedicated to connecting literacy research to practice in K-12 classrooms and school libraries. LLED graduate students, practicing teachers, scholars, and school librarians will discuss the significance of playfulness “in the gaps”; playful subversion towards self-making; playful pedagogy; playing with/in discomfort; and literacy play as ‘pushback’ against deficit perspectives. Then, a diverse panel will respond from a number of educator perspectives.

Dr. Ava Becker (University of Alberta)
Dr. Shelby Boehm (Illinois State University)
Dr. Harini Rajagopal (University of British Columbia)
Dr. Kevin Wong (Pepperdine University)
Dr. Melanie Wong (University of British Columbia)

Moderators

Dr. Amber Moore (University of British Columbia)
LLED GPA Team
