Congratulations to Marny Point on receiving UBC’s 2023 Alumni Builder Award!

The Alumni Builder Award recognize a cross-section of alumni representing both campuses who have significantly contributed to the university and enriched the lives of others, and in doing so, have supported alumni UBC’s mission of realizing the promise of a global community with a shared ambition for a better world and an exceptional UBC.

Since 2017, Marny Point has been a lecturer in the First Nations and Endangered Languages program who teaches an intermediate course level of hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓, the Coast Salish traditional Musqueam language. She understands how connections to Indigenous languages provide value, honour, and a sense of identity, thereby positioning Indigenous people in place and culture. Marny earned her Bachelor of Education in 200 and Master of Educational Technology (MET) in 2004. Now she is a PhD candidate in LLED.

Well done, Marny!
