David is the 2018 recipient of the UBC Faculty of Education Alumni Teacher Award, recognizing the outstanding achievements by UBC Faculty of Education graduates. This award acknowledges the profound and unique contributions educators are making in the lives of students and the community. David is receiving this award due to his 30 year dedication, energy, creativity, and expertise to the teaching profession. Among many of his achievements, David has co-created 19 original plays with cast each year of upwards to two hundred high school students.
His remarkable ensemble work artistically explores challenging topics, enabling his students to wrestle with current debates and issues. Strongly endorsed for this award by his high schools students, university students, parents and colleagues, David is a visionary and leader, and most deserving of this teaching honour.
