Congratulations to LLED PhD candidate Asma Afreen who was recognized last night at the Dean’s Distinguished Lecture in the UBC Faculty of Education. Asma was awarded the Janusz Korczak Graduate Student Award, which is offered to “an outstanding graduate student in the Faculty of Education whose research is focused on children’s rights and/or Canadian Indigenous education in the field of Early Childhood Education.” Asma’s research addresses Bangla heritage language education for children and youth, and she is an active member of the Global Storybooks team. Well done, Asma!
