Admission into PhD Program
Admission
to the doctoral program is
highly competitive and we have the capacity to admit only a few of the many
qualified applicants each year. We strongly advise you to become familiar
with the information posted on the department web page including policy and
procedures and the research programs of faculty members. (Do not contact
the individual faculty members, as we cannot respond to the many queries
about supervision prior to receiving an application, nor can we assess qualifications
prior to receiving applications. You may direct general inquiries to the
Graduate Advisor). We are also recommending that you describe in your letter
of intent how your proposed research focus fits with the research programs
of two or three faculty members. Admissions decisions are made by committee
and, unfortunately, individual professors are unable to assess individual
applications in advance of the committee's adjudication.
Application
Applicants should complete and submit the following documents to the Department of Language & Literacy Education no later than the application deadline. Late and incomplete applications will not be processed. We do not provide a service/site for checking on the status of your application.
