LLED 534A - Section 061 - 3 credits

Theory and Research in Teaching Written Composition

Instructor: Carl Leggo
Term 2
Wednesday 1630-1930
SCRF 1004

Description
In LLED 534 we will examine and question significant issues of theory and research related to the teaching of written composition. We will focus on creative and expressive writing, including poetry, narrative, and creative non-fiction. As we explore diverse possibilities for writing, we will also investigate connections between writing and contemporary postmodern perspectives on issues, such as truth and fiction, reality and imagination, and selfhood and subjectivity. Based on the conviction that teachers of writing ought to be writers, the course will be conducted as a writing workshop with frequent opportunities for writing and sharing writing.
